Consumer Complaint Resources: Useful During Vendor Oversight

Jul 17, 2020 by Gordon Rudd, CISSP

During vendor due diligence and oversight, take a look at that third party's consumer complaints. Often regulators reference the importance of effectively managing and understanding complaints at the vendor level and have specific guidance regarding the need to review policies and procedures of such partnerships.

The following resources are useful for researching consumer complaint information on your vendors:

  1. Look on the vendor's social media sites
  2. Google the Attorney General in the state of incorporation for your vendor and you should find the relevant Consumer Protection Unit for that state
  3. Email: spam@uce.gov
  4. Research vendors on websites like:

Please note: Since most of these sites are managed by volunteers, and due to the ongoing pandemic, some sites are intermittently down. If you have trouble accessing any of the resources above, please feel free to send a note to us.
